Galactic Ghosts: Collision Course
When people ask me which book in The Ghost Ships Trilogy is my favorite, I'm never quite sure how to answer.
Journey Into the Void will always have a special place in my heart because it introduced readers to Alastar, Amara, Javiar, and the crew of the ISS Zephyr.
Phantom Armada: Final Reckoning brings their stories to their conclusion.
But if there is one book where the universe truly comes alive...
It is Galactic Ghosts: Collision Course.
This is the book where everything grows.
The galaxy becomes larger.
The stakes become greater.
New civilizations emerge.
Ancient mysteries begin revealing themselves.
And the friendships forged aboard the Zephyr are tested in ways none of the characters could have imagined.
Alastar, Amara, and Javiar quickly discover that survival is only the beginning.
Roberta Doxon, Admiral Jeffers, and Commander Hart step forward to lead the rebellion.
Readers also catch their first glimpse of the Gaean resistance and its mysterious leader, whose role will prove far more important than it first appears.
We learn that sometimes the greatest discoveries aren't found among the stars.
Sometimes they're found within ourselves.
Looking back now, I realize this book became the emotional center of the trilogy.
It is where strangers become family.
Where trust must be earned.
Where courage is measured not by fearlessness, but by the willingness to keep moving forward despite fear.
Writing Collision Course allowed me to explore cultures, alien civilizations, and relationships on a much deeper level than I ever could in the first novel.
Many of the characters readers have told me they love most first appeared — or truly came into their own — in this story.
Looking back now, knowing how the trilogy ultimately ends, I can see just how many seeds were planted here.
Some readers recognized them immediately.
Others won't notice them until they finish the final book and decide to begin the journey all over again.
That's one of my favorite things about writing a trilogy.
The ending gives new meaning to the beginning.
If you haven't yet joined Alastar, Amara, and Javiar on their journey, I hope you'll consider visiting them.
I'd love to hear what you think.
